Sebastian T. "Seb" Roll, age 73 of Mott, ND passed away at Medcenter One in Bismarck, ND on January 1, 2010 with his family at his side.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am, MT, Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Mott with Fr. Charles Zins, and Deacon Ervin Schneider, officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyslope Cemetery with full military honors afforded by the Taylor-Skartvedt American Legion Post #71 of Mott.

Visitations will be from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010 and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, all at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church. A Rosary/Wake service will be Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the church.

Sebastian T. Roll was born on March 21, 1936 to Mike and Rosa (Reichert) Roll at the farm north of Burt, ND. Seb went to country school for 6 years and then to St. Vincent Grade School and Mott Lincoln High School, graduating in 1956.

Seb joined the National Guard in April 1955 and served for 8 years while going to Fort Riley, Kansas for active duty.

 On November 5, 1956 he married Norita Lutz, the love of his life. In 1958, they moved to the farm and had 4 children. Michael, Brent, Glenn and Shelly.

Some of his accomplishments were, Township Assessor, Hettinger County Commissioner, and Elgin Hospital Board. He helped build and remodel many houses, did electrician work, plumbing, and anything else someone needed help with. He was very instrumental in the remodel of the St. Vincent Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, was a Fourth Degree Knight.

One of Seb’s proudest accomplishments, other than his family, was in the American Legion. He served The American Legion as a Post Commander, District Commander, State Vice Commander, State Department Commander, National Vice Commander as well as having served two terms (the limit) on the Department Executive Committee. He also represented The American Legion on the North Dakota Veterans Coordinating Council for many years, as well as numerous National Committee’s. He also served as a Hettinger County Commissioner. He was a paid lifetime member of the Taylor-Skartvedt American Legion Post #71 of Mott and AMVETS, and Voiture Locale 696 of La Societe of 40 et 8.

Grateful for having shared in Seb's life are his wife, Norita, of Mott; sons, Brent (Mary) Roll, Mott; Glenn (Susan) Roll, Glyndon, MN; daughter, Shelly (Scott) McCormack, Puyallup, WA; daughter-in-law, Donna Roll, Nashville, TN; 10 grandchildren, Dawnette & Tiffani Friedt, Craig, McKayla & Kara Roll, Dalton, Alissa, & Sophia Roll, Sebastian Roll and Austin McCormack, and one great granddaughter, Emmi Friedt. Brother, William (Winnifred) Roll, Eldorado Springs, MO, seven sisters, Eva (Innozent) Zentner, Mott, Ann Kuntz, Billings, MT, Barbara (Cornelius) Kautzman, Ballentine, MT, Viola Dauenhauer, Billings, MT, Delores Lee, Hettinger, ND, Gladys Humeston, Eldorada Springs, MO, Sally (Marlin) Schneider, Bismarck, ND, sister-in-law, Betty Roll, Mott, ND, his mother-in-law, Emmie Lutz, Mott, ND and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael, his parents, Mike & Rosa Roll, father-in-law, Mike Lutz, brothers, John, Paul, Jerome and Marty Roll.
